Public art was seen as the best representative for the value of democratic society in 20th Century. Nowadays, except beautify public spaces so that the public can have a common place to express their esthetic imaginations, the intervention of public art has become a way of stimulating public concerns for the society issues and enhancing the virtue of variable cultures.
From a more positive and realistic aspect, as Michael Brenson says, public art can also serve as a bridge to mend the barrier of communication and to heal the social wound. Different social values will also be properly and equally respected. The ultimate goal is that new esthetic and life value might be established and the troubled society will be changed.
