Our
Vision

Artfield’s vision and mission is to coexist with nature – driven by a back-to-basics minimalist mindset. Curating is done with the environment in mind and aims to celebrate the cultural values underlying each context, addressing different urban and rural settings and communities and constantly experimenting with new artistic concept and strategies.

We aspire to become a form of social intervention via art, reflecting on and changing the behavior and thinking of the modern people. Contemporary society is at a critical juncture; there is unprecedented abundance as well as crises and challenges unseen before. Artfield seeks to break free from the existing constraints and understand the unwritten survival rules essential to the contemporary citizens. Our mission is to question and explore to identify the belief and core value of the civil society, for it is such self-rediscovery that becomes the courage to inspire actions.

Founder

Huichen Wu

The founder of Artfield, Huichen Wu, started her career in public art since 1999. In the long years of practices, she always regards public art as a public forum for citizens to create a path where we can find the glimpse of a hopeful future for the environment. When she worked in the Department of Cultural Affairs of Taipei City Government, her work was focused on policy making, to expand the definition and potential of public art. Since 2008, she worked as an independent curator which allowed her to get to the front line further. Now, Artfield is a team to create more possibilities to engage different talents and professionals into this field. As a team, Artfield is able to evolve with the community side by side and tackle important issues in our city.
